About

Aaaand I’m up and running

… any way, this is going to serve as my portfolio – since I am a freelance webdeveloper – and a place where I’ll be storing and sharing some of the stuff that I often find my self in need of like often used grep command, nice and funky find commands.

Back in 1999 I started out working as a customer service consultant at what then was known as jobshop.dk, I saw how the web was envolving and decided to learn how to program since html just wasn’t fun enough. I started out programming in classic ASP, but never did like the VB syntax – I still think i’t weird – so I wrote my ASP using JavaScript.

Shortly after I moved to Java since it has a syntax I liked and was easy to work with. I worked with Java for several years writing programs that were used by jobshops customer service.

In 2001 I had to take charge of an intranet application written in PHP and that was when I decided to go in that direction and chose open source as a primary platform, I still worked with Java and helped – what had then become StepStone – with there mess of a legacy application that combined Perl and Java and who knows what else.

In 2002 I started working as a freelance developer and worked on eastpack Denmarks Java based community which was one of my biggest projects, I still did a lot of PHP and Perl work since PHP was so damn easy and cheap to host and easy to work with.

Since then things have changed alot, to day I word 100% freelance but still spend most of my time working with open source projects – you can see them on this blog.

As a developer I have a pragmatic approach to things, I’m one of those guys who can work based on a few drawings on a napkin and think that visual specifications are better than written ones.

The dates on projects you can see on my blog aren’t correct, I just resently created this blog and am still in the process of creating all the projects. Bare with me, there is more to come… much more : )
